DESTINATION: SheffieldSheffield is a mixed farming community 30km south of Devonport, and lies in the foothills of Mount Roland, (1234m), in an area of lovely natural scenery. Main AttractionsThe town's most famous feature is the series of more than 30 murals; mainly illustrating the town's early history; painted on almost every available wall. Mural Town World in Main St is home to the 'Walls of Fame', an exhibition featuring famous Tasmanians. Pioneering memorabilia is housed in the Kentish Museum. Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society operates steam train trips from Apex Park on the first weekend of the month and daily in the summer school holidays. |

The region's beauty is enhanced by thousands of flowering daffodils in spring. The many lakes and dams of the Mersey-Forth Hydro-Electric Development are to the west. These include the international rowing venue Lake Barrington and the semi-circular Devil's Gate Dam. Close to Lake Barrington is the world's largest maze complex, Tasmazia, with a lavender farm and model village. Lake Barrington Estate Vineyard is also in the area. Stoodley Forest Reserve is 7km NE. Sheffield is also the gateway to the bushwalks and stunning scenery of the internationally renowned Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair NP, 61km SW.
